In 1991, a small group of parents and teachers came together in pursuit of a
vision – a new Christian school that would make academic learning inseparable
from learning to live as a child of God. Our school opened within six months,
and has prospered ever since.
For students, teachers, and parents, what sets Providence Christian Academy
apart is a constant awareness of God's presence in all aspects of the school's
current program, as well as its past development. "I honestly felt the presence
of the Holy Spirit when I walked in the front door," said Lanette Lilly, a
second grade teacher, and mother of three students at Providence. Mrs. Lilly is
not alone in this "feeling." In fact, many alumni return to teach at
Providence, like Jonny Williamson, class of '97 graduate, modern history
teacher, and soccer coach. "I came back to Providence because of the genuine
love of God that is exhibited through so many of the faculty members and
students. It is a place where I can daily grow in my relationship with Christ,"
he explained.
The character of Providence is evident in a nurturing atmosphere that counts
each child as precious and special. Our students experience rigorous academics,
from kindergarten through twelfth grade, weekly chapel at every grade level,
enrichment courses and activities, well-rounded athletics, and are active in
community service projects that reinforce Biblical teachings.
Providence Christian Academy is more than an academic institution. It is a
community of believers, consisting of Christian parents in partnership with
Christian educators to help young people develop their God-given gifts and
abilities. We pursue excellence in Christian education, and provide a nurturing
learning environment for the sake of students' intellectual, physical,
emotional, social, and spiritual growth.
